Camp Clarita Staff are the role models for our campers. We have summer employment opportunities for those entering their senior year in high school to those already in college and beyond. Camp Clarita also has a great volunteer program (Counselors in Training) for teens entering 10th and 11th grade. - Camp Counselor - $8.93/hour

Requirements for all Positions:
- Evidence of negative TB test taken within the last two (2) years.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification for Adults, Children, and Infants is required within one week of hire.

The Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) program is an excellent way for a teen to gain volunteer experience working with the youth of Santa Clarita. Mature, enthusiastic teens who will assist Camp Counselors and Recreation Leaders with everyday activities offered at camp. If you’re interested in volunteering up to 20 hours a week working with youth in a day camp setting, this is the program for you! Applicants will be interviewed and selected based on their ability to work with children, sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm.

The ideal candidates will assist in leading groups of children in a day camp setting. This is an entry-level position performing beginning or semi-skilled work.

- Assist in organization, set-up, and clean-up of camp site.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of facility daily.
- Complete various forms and logs associated with the program.
- Report accidents and incidents.
- Act as a role model for campers.
- Attend meetings and training sessions.
- Interact and provide customer service to program participants and the public.
- Swimming on a daily basis with campers.
- Ability to lift, drag and push files, paper, documents, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Availability from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.; actual shift will vary depending on the needs of the camp program.
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least a senior in high school or above by September 2012.
- At least 6 months paid or volunteer experience instructing, conducting, or planning activities in a recreation, education, or child care program.
Knowledge and Abilities :
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.

- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Positive attitude in working with youth.
- Creative problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively, compassionately, and creatively with youth, adults, and staff.

- Positions require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal services.
